After working for the City of La Mirada’s Community Services Department for approximately four years, I earned my first letter of recommendation, one of many I would go on to receive throughout my career. This milestone reflected not only my work ethic, but also my commitment to growth in public service. During that time, I supported the Parks and Recreation programs, supervised staff within aquatic programs, and served as a key point of contact for city officials during large scale community events.
While I valued my experience in Parks and Recreation, I made a deliberate decision to expand my skill set by pursuing coursework in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and other trades. My goal was to build a strong technical foundation and advance into facility management.
Over the past several years, I have progressed into a management role where I now oversee multiple departmental divisions. Along the way, I have continued to learn and grow within the city, becoming increasingly familiar with policies, procedures, and the decision making and implementation processes at the management level. My responsibilities include managing capital improvement projects, preparing and evaluating bids for maintenance contracts, contributing to the City’s five-year master plan, tracking operating budgets, monitoring facility expenditures, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
