More than a Coach: Building the next Generation

I’m proud to be one of the wrestling coaches at Mayfair High School, where I’ve spent over a decade working with student athletes. Winning as a team is always great, it might even get you a shiny ring that says “Coach Carlos”. Some people know me as the Greco coach, the throwing coach, or just Coach Carlos.

But honestly, what means the most to me isn’t the wins, it’s seeing these kids grow up, graduate, and become good and productive people. A lot of them still reach out and keep me updated on their lives, and that’s something I truly appreciate.

Those years on the mat have taught me a lot about discipline, teamwork, and showing up for others, values I carry with me in everything I do.

As a proud Monsoon, I’m excited about the new state of the art facility being build. It’s a great example of what can happen when people come together with a shared goal. I believe that same kind of teamwork can help move Lakewood forward. When we work together, we can make a real difference for our community.
