Lakewood residents expect their tax dollars to be managed with care and precision. However, for too long, District 2 has dealt with the consequences of delayed projects, rising costs, and a lack of transparency regarding City Hall’s decision-making process. When budgets aren’t managed effectively, our neighborhoods pay the price through deferred maintenance, stalled infrastructure improvements, and a breakdown in public trust.
My focus is simple: fiscal discipline backed by real-world accountability.
Responsible budgeting means fewer surprises and better outcomes. I will work tirelessly to ensure District 2 receives its fair share of city resources and that every dollar spent serves the people of Lakewood.
Our community depends on accessible parks, recreation, and youth programs, along with reliable public resources such as libraries and community spaces. Residents deserve clarity about what services are available and confidence that they will be sustained.
My focus: I will work to ensure residents are familiar with the city budget, so residents understand what parks, recreation, and youth programs are available to them. I believe in transparency around how these services are funded, so we are not making promises we cannot keep. I will also prioritize protecting hours and staffing for essential community resources such as libraries, tutoring centers, and public spaces that residents rely on. In addition, I will work to streamline permits and city processes to make them more user-friendly and easier for both residents and small businesses to navigate and utilize.
Our residents care deeply about street conditions, sidewalks, lighting, trees, and preserving the character of historic neighborhoods. There is growing frustration with short-term fixes that fail to deliver lasting results.
My focus: I plan to assist in researching and pursuing state grant funding so the city can continue upgrading and maintaining its facilities and buildings. While ADU laws are established at the state level, I will work to ensure we remain mindful of local zoning practices and carefully consider parking and the overall impact on surrounding neighborhoods. I will also work with the city to be proactive in pursuing environmental incentives and compliance opportunities related to AQMD regulations, SB 1383 requirements, and energy – efficient infrastructure upgrades.
Residents and small businesses across District 2 are increasingly concerned about the rise in break-ins, theft, and property crime. These incidents do more than just cause financial loss; they disrupt our daily lives, burden our local shop owners, and erode the essential sense of security that makes Lakewood a home.
My Action Plan for a Safer District 2:
Neighborhood safety isn’t just a goal. I am committed to ensuring that District 2 remains a place where families and businesses can thrive without fear.
Small, locally owned businesses are the backbone of District 2, yet many struggle with rising costs, complex permitting, and inconsistent communication from the City. Too often, small businesses feel unsupported while larger interests are better resourced to navigate City Hall.
My focus: Making the City a partner, not an obstacle. This includes streamlining permitting and inspections, improving coordination between departments, and ensuring small businesses have clear points of contact and realistic timelines. A healthy local economy starts with supporting the businesses that serve our neighborhoods and create local jobs.
Too often, residents hear promises without seeing results. In District 2, accountability means more than good intentions. It means clear timelines, measurable outcomes, and leadership that takes responsibility when things do not go as planned.
My focus: Delivering results residents can track and trust. This includes setting clear expectations, publishing regular progress updates on major district issues, measuring outcomes against stated goals, and correcting course when policies or projects are not working. Accountability builds trust when leadership is transparent, responsive, and willing to own outcomes.
